Farm Art: An En Plein Air Event

Join us at West Sixth Farm on Saturday, May 14 at 11 am for a day full of nature and art!

  • 11 am - 3 pm - Start your morning exploring as En Plein Air artists scattered about paint scenes of West Sixth Farm.

  • 12 pm to 1 pm - For those who enjoy hiking, Woods and Waters Land Trust Board President Heather Housman will be leading a 1.5 m hike on the farm. Heather worked as and ecologist/botanist for Kentucky’s natural heritage program and has almost three decades of experience leading natural history programs. Learn about flora and fauna found at West Sixth Farm this season. Heather will also be available to answer your nature-related questions. Sturdy shoes are recommended for participants.

  • 1:30 pm - Tap into your creative side on a Sketch and Stroll with Woods and Waters Land Trust’s Executive Director and artist, Jennifer Palmer. During the Sketch and Stroll there will be a short discussion and stroll through West Sixth Farm. Learn about composition, the visual elements, principles of design and how to observe the natural world on your walk. All levels and artistic mediums are welcome. Please bring all supplies you would like to use.

  • 4 pm - Wrapping up the fair, artwork by the En Plein Air Artists will be displayed in the farm taproom. These pieces will make their way to the Lexington brewery to be sold. Proceeds from the sales will benefit Woods and Waters Land Trust!

This entire event is FREE and open to the public of all ages! However, if you would like to participate in the hike or Sketch and Stroll, please reserve your spot through the Eventbrite link! Participant numbers are limited to ensure all participants receive a quality experience.

After the event, you can stick around and support your local brewery with a drink from their taproom!
