July Volunteer Day

  • Vaughn Branch Nature Preserve 160 Flynn Avenue Frankfort, KY, 40601 United States (map)

Our monthly volunteer day is the second Thursday of each month.

Help us keep Vaughn Branch Nature Preserve beautiful! Join us for our upcoming Volunteer Day on Thursday July 14 from 9-11 AM at Vaughn Branch Nature Preserve to work on removing Japanese chaff flower. This invasive plant, often mistaken for white vervain or lopseed, grows in large dense patches that grow along floodplains and forested wetlands. You will have the opportunity to learn more about this invasive plant before the removal activity during an educational session on how to properly id this plant and how to eradicate it from the area.

Volunteer days will focus on an education component and then a hands on learning activity as a follow up to the lecture component.

Please come with sturdy shoes and a water bottle. Hope to see you there!
