This April, become a Citizen Scientist for Franklin County with Woods & Waters Land Trust! We’re joining The City Nature Challenge, one of the largest community-science events in the world, happening from April 25 to April 28, 2025. Help put Frankfort on the map by documenting local wildlife with the iNaturalist app.
Here’s how it works:
From April 25-28, take a photo of a plant, animal, insect, or bird and upload it to iNaturalist, including the location of your observation. Any sightings in Franklin County will be added to the Frankfort City Nature Challenge project.
You can participate on your own in your yard, a local park, or on a hike—or join a guided event like a Wildflower Hike or our West 6th Hiking club.
Don’t worry if you’re unsure what you’re photographing—just capture a clear photo that others can help identify!
On May 5, the worldwide rankings will be revealed to see which community gathered the most observations, found the most species, and engaged the most participants. Let’s show the world the beauty of Franklin County!
